Paris, Day 3 – April 19, 2018

We really dislike tours, but we booked one for last night even before we left the States anyway. It was called Paris Authentic. They are supposed to drive you around in vintage Citroen cars and while you take pictures of Paris by night. At least that’s what the advertising says. Not so much really. Vintage translates into junk car. And yes, you are allowed to take photos, but apparently they must always be moving. So it turned into a bummer. Oh well, live and learn.

After we were dropped off, we took a stroll around the Eiffel Tower and the Seine for some night pictures and to mingle with the crowds. We feel very safe in the 7th Arrondissement, even at night. But still, we always keep our “third eye” open and our guard up.

Nothing is really planned for today except dinner in the Eiffel Tower tonight. Hope that’s not a disappointment like Paris Authentic. I’m sure it will be magnificent.

We must start packing for the flight back to the U.S. on Saturday. Since we’re going to be busy most of the day tomorrow, we may start that chore today.

Our dinner in the Eiffel Tower was amazing. It was only on the first level but the height kind of bothered me. It didn’t seem to bother Pat a bit. It was a little disorganized getting in but once we did it was beautiful. I would think it’s safe here because we had to go through two layers of security to get into the restaurant. What a beautiful, wonderful place this is and we’ve enjoyed every moment!

  1. Hope you enjoy your dinner at the Tower. We were in Paris for such a short time, but thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a 3 hour drive from La Havre to Paris so time in Paris was brief. We had a driving tour (on a bus) around town, which was beautiful, even thought it was very foggy and rainy. We had lunch in the Eiffel Tower, which started with Pâté de Foie Gras. I can’t say that we really enjoyed the foie gras, but we ate it to experience the French culture. The main course was a chicken breast over potatoes and edamame, which was quite delicious. Dessert was a lemon tart with meringue and vanilla sauce. The French Bordeaux was free flowing (we liked that). After lunch, we went to the Louvre, which was quite crowded, but we got to see lots of the most amazing art. I can see why you love Paris. I hope we can return one day and stay for awhile so that we can really see the city and experience the culture. Like you guys, we have found through our travels that when you treat people with kindness and respect, you generally get treated with kindness and respect in return. Have fun!
