Three Days and Counting

Pat and I married a little more than a month ago.  Since the first of the year, we have counted down the days, and this Friday we will finally board the plane that will take us on our honeymoon trip to Europe.  We both are so excited; Pat, because she has never traveled to Europe, and me, because I am looking forward to watching her expressions and reactions as we experience the beauty, the history, and the magnificence of Europe together.

We have rented an apartment in the Champs de Mars area of Paris (the 7th Arrondissement) near the Eiffel Tower.  But once it is all said and done, we will explore and sleep in five different counties in 26 days.  It is nearly time to experience the history, the foods, the architecture, and socialize with the people of Europe.

Our travels will take us to France, Italy, Croatia, Malta, and Spain.  Eventually, we will make our way to Madrid to finish the trip before returning to the States.

But for now, the hard part must be completed – the dreaded packing process.  Determining what and how much we will need for nearly a month of traveling is more difficult than it appears. We will have access to washers during the trip, so that helps immensely.  Regardless, it is a daunting task for anyone.  It seems everyone has a personal packing process, so I will take care of mine, while Pat focuses on her own packing.  You know the old saying about “too many cooks.”  Packing can be a tough, lonely business!

So, this is the beginning of documenting our wonderful, first experience together.  We both decided that this blog is important to us, and can hardly wait to share our daily travels with you.  I’ll do the writing, and Pat will use her professional photography skills to take and post all the pictures.  We invite you to enjoy the trip with us.

  2. Pat. I have never been to Europe either, so I am thrilled to be following your journey through your photographs and your hubby’s narrative. Prayers for a safe trip and an awesome experience.

  3. I am so excited about following you two on this journey. Pat has always wanted to go to Europe and I am absolutely thrilled that she is finally going to realize that dream. I will be looking forward to all the photos and reading your blog each day. Oh Sis, pack less than you think you’ll need. You’ll want a little room in your suitcase for souvenirs.
