We have arrived in Paris

April 7 and 8, 2017

(It’s all about Le Tour Eiffel)

We left the States about 6 pm and prepared ourselves to fly all night while presumably getting some sleep.  Needless to say between the excitement and the seats, sleeping was not to be.  Instead, we drank champagne, and anticipated the day ahead.  Franz actually gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate.  We arrived at Charles De Gaulle Airport outside Paris and thankfully so did all our bags.  We got through customs just fine.  Our driver, Habib, found us and off we went to our Paris apartment.  Passing so many sites we’ve come to know and love through pictures.

So far, everything is going perfectly!

The apartment is only a block from the Eiffel Tower so while they are cleaning our place, we decided to explore.  Stopping first at our cafe for a croissant and cafe au lait.  Then on to the tower.  What a beautiful location.  It’s Saturday and there are the typical scam artists you have to fend off, but after a while they gave up which allowed us to stare in awe of this wonder and pose for pictures.

In the meantime, we decided to people watch and make snarky comments at the international level.

We found a little wine shop that appeared to be a “mom and pop” store.  Wonderful people, no English, but that was just fine.  We met a man named Bertram there who helped in the translation when we needed him.  Great lunch of smoked ham, goat cheese, bread, and red wine.  It was perfect.

We returned to the apartment to charge our phones and ourselves.  Poor Pat is exhausted.  I took a well deserved shower and now trying to figure out how to work the TV.  No luck so I turned it off.

A post note from Pat:

The restaurant where we ate dinner had an entre’ of prime rib for two. I guess I didn’t read the fine print (because it was in French, of all things) but it was enough for two gluttonous families.

By the way, Jack LOVES escargot and said these were particularly tasty..I thought they looked a little “snaily” for my taste..Bon appetit!

  1. Escargot, YUM! C’mon Pat, just a little taste? Although your minds must be reeling with all there is to see and do, please get a many pics as you can with you two of you in the same shot (very important!). I’m loving the “tour”!

  2. By the way, not sure why this is happening, but every time I post something, it says it was posted 4 hours later than it actually is. It’s not Paris time or east coast time. Go figure…
