Another beautiful day in France

April 10, 2017

The past few days have been about 80 degrees, but today it is only slated to hit the low to mid 60s.  It appears that it will be that way until the day we leave.  No rain in sight except for the morning we depart this beautiful city and replace it with another – Venice, Italy.  But that’s not until next week and we still have plenty to see and explore this week in Paris.

We continue to discuss exactly what we want to do and see before we have to leave.  We do know that we will be going to the Louvre, as well as a visit to the Pére Lachaise Cemetery to see the graves of notables such as Chopin, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Edith Piaf, and Jim Morrison.

Pat and I are looking forward to my daughter Kate and her friend, Kim, arriving on Thursday morning.  We definitely have some special things planned when they get here.  The main event will be a visit to Montmartre, a beautiful part of the city with lots of artists, beautiful views of Paris, great restaurants, and the Sacre Coeur Basilica.  This is Easter week and all of us are looking forward to experiencing a French Easter this year.

We forced ourselves to go out and find breakfast (Pat said we were going out to find coffee).  It’s not a difficult chore to locate cafes that serve in the morning.  It is a chore finding the good ones.  We tried a different place this morning and it was not wonderful.  The coffee was good but the omelet tasted like feet.

We got through that mess, and started our morning walk where Pat found a beautiful flower shop.

Right in the front was her favorite flower, the ranunculus.  So we bought a bunch and a vase and brought them back to the apartment.

Suddenly, we realized that we have been mistreating ourselves.  Late nights, insomnia,  and jet lag have taken a toll on us both, so we decided to take a quick nap to catch up on some much needed sleep.  We feel like it is a sin to sleep and waste time while we are in Paris, but if we don’t someone is going to find us face down in the street.

  1. Glad they were not decapited flowers 🌺 like the other time. Enjoy them and take good care of them. I know how much you love the flowers.

  3. You can’t enjoy sights, sounds, aromas and the delight it brings to both of you, if you are exhausted and “numbed out”. May every one of your days show you new beauty!
