I owe myself an apology for all the times I put others first and completely forgot about my own well-being. Chances are you owe yourself the same apology. It sounds selfish but I’ve come to realize it’s important. I’ve spent so many years giving, caring, and pouring into the lives around me that I didn’t notice how empty I was becoming. I love others deeply—but somewhere along the way, I forgot to love myself with that same tenderness.
I’m starting to realize that self-love isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. It’s the foundation that allows me to show up for others with strength instead of exhaustion, with joy instead of resentment, with fullness instead of fragments. I deserve the same grace, patience, and compassion that I so freely offer to everyone else.
So today, I apologize to myself—for ignoring my needs, silencing my own voice, and carrying burdens I didn’t have to carry alone. And from this moment forward, I choose to treat myself with the same love I’ve always given away so freely. I choose to honor my heart, protect my peace, and remember that I matter, too.
“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” – Mark 6:31
