Many people wake up each morning, drag themselves out of bed, and brace for another day of simply getting through it. Instead of feeling energized or inspired, they push themselves through a routine that feels more like survival than living. I once spoke with a well-known, respected author who shared a shocking statistic: nearly 75% of people hate what they do for a living. That means three out of four people spend the majority of their waking hours doing something that drains them, rather than fulfills them.

This is deeply disturbing when you think about the impact it has, not just on individuals, but on society as a whole. When most people are disengaged from their work, it affects their mental health, relationships, creativity, and sense of purpose. It also ripples outward—families suffer, communities stagnate, and businesses run on autopilot rather than innovation.

The bigger question is: why do so many people accept this as normal? Fear of change, financial pressures, and societal expectations often trap people in careers that don’t bring them joy or meaning. But life is too short to live only for weekends or retirement. Imagine the difference if more people pursued work aligned with their passions and strengths. The world would be filled with more motivated, creative, and fulfilled individuals.  I knew what my life’s profession would be at the age of 15.  I pursued it and excelled.  You know what they say…if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.

Perhaps the first step is awareness—recognizing that we don’t have to settle. From there, small changes, new skills, and bold decisions can gradually lead toward a life where mornings are met with excitement, not dread.  Always follow your passion to be content with your life on earth.

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” – Colossians 3:23-24
