Humans were never designed to be led around solely by their feelings. Emotions don’t last long and are often deceptive, swayed by circumstances and external influences. When a person chooses to live according to their emotions, they become vulnerable to confusion, instability, and manipulation. Feelings can shift from joy to sorrow, peace to anger, or hope to despair in a matter of moments.
Satan understands the power of unchecked emotions, using them as tools to cloud judgment and pull people away from truth. He works through fear, pride, anger, jealousy, and even pleasure to influence decisions and distort reality. A life led by feelings is a life that can be tossed around like a leaf in the wind, without a firm foundation to stand on.
Humans were created to live in alignment with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit provides wisdom, clarity, and discernment that go well beyond what emotions can offer. Walking in the Spirit means living according to God’s Word, allowing Him to lead decisions rather than impulses. The Holy Spirit anchors a person in truth, offering peace that is not dependent on circumstances and joy that transcends emotional highs and lows.
To live by the Spirit is to experience stability and purpose, even in the midst of life’s storms. It is a conscious choice to trust God’s guidance above the pull of temporary emotions and to resist the enemy’s attempts to manipulate through feelings. True freedom and fulfillment come when the heart is surrendered to God and the Spirit leads every step.
“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” – Galatians 5:16
