For those who were alive 50 years ago during our nation’s Bicentennial celebration, you’ll remember just how big of a moment in history it was. I was living in Greece in 1976, and I still understood the significance of that milestone in our country’s history without even being here.
Now, as we approach the 250th celebration, it feels very different. I don’t hear much about it, I see little mention of it on television, and we’re only about 90 days away from the Fourth of July. It’s concerning to see how much quieter this moment feels, and it makes you reflect on what’s changed about the sense of patriotism in our country.
