There are things in life that we are not destined to have, and it can be frustrating. Sometimes it’s material—like the dream house, the rare car, or an expensive gadget you’ve always wanted but can’t justify or afford. Other times, it’s about experiences—traveling to certain places, living in a city that excites you, or pursuing a path that circumstances or timing just won’t allow.

Then there are the intangible ones, the ones that really stick with you: the relationships that didn’t work out, the opportunities you missed, the version of yourself you could have been if life had played out differently. These are the things that gnaw at the edges of your mind in quiet moments because they feel so close yet forever out of reach.

What seems to bug the hell out of us isn’t always the denial itself—it’s the constant awareness that some things are just there, almost within touching distance, but not meant to be ours. Learning to let go is the hard part, but it’s also the only way to keep moving forward without that weight dragging us down.

In the end, peace comes from recognizing that life’s beauty is inseparable from its limits. The things we can’t have or accomplish illuminate what we do, reminding us of the fleeting, fragile, and precious nature of our own paths. Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting or pretending we never wanted more—it means choosing to live fully in the space we do occupy, embracing the people, moments, and opportunities that are ours to hold now. Only then can we step forward unburdened, lighter, and open to the unexpected gifts that still may be waiting ahead.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
