There is a deep and unsettling affliction spreading across the nation. In my 73 years, there’s never been such a profound divide between the American people.

Never before have we seen this level of intense hostility directed toward a President and his family. Remarks like Jimmy Kimmel’s reference to Melania Trump as a “glowing expectant widow” go beyond political disagreement. They point to something far more troubling—a cultural erosion in how we respond to leadership and to one another.

This is especially alarming when viewed against the backdrop of a President who has endured numerous assassination plots and three actual attempts on his life. Efforts to excuse or normalize such rhetoric simply does not hold up.

There is much more that could be said, but in the end, it comes down to this: we are walking a narrow path, one that separates us from the dangerous brink of chaos. In my view, there is only one true source of hope—Christ within us.

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20
