“We are travelers. This world is not our destination but a bridge to eternity.” – Al-Ghazali

Life is matter that woke up and became aware. It feeds on energy, heals itself, and makes more of itself. We are the part of the universe that can see itself. Life takes its shape each day from the choices we make, the hard things we live through, and the people we choose to keep close.

Most of life is maintenance, and maintenance is love more than logic. We push through because someone is counting on us, because we have become the kind of person who does the work, and because we hold a quiet bet that tomorrow might bring what today did not. When the grind feels empty, it is usually not because the work is too hard, but because we have drifted away from the reasons we started.

Is there a purpose to it? People answer that in three ways. Some believe purpose is found, that God placed it there and our job is to discover it and live by it. Others believe purpose is built, that life gives us freedom and we make purpose by choosing what deserves our time and love and work. And some learn that purpose grows, what matters at twenty is not what matters at seventy. First you try to prove yourself, then to provide for others, then to watch over and pass on what you have learned. It does not get smaller. It gets clearer.

Life may not come with a single assignment, but it comes with an invitation. You did not ask to be here and you cannot stay forever. While you are here, pay attention, care for people well, do your work honestly, and notice what is beautiful while you can still see it. Not every day will feel meaningful, but a whole life can. I ask myself each night, did God notice my life today? Knowing He is part of my world makes it all worthwhile for me.

“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” – 1 John 2:17
