Risk can be better than feeling regret. I think about all the events I didn’t get involved with for whatever reason — a conversation I didn’t start, a trip I didn’t take, a chance I talked myself out of. In the moment, fear felt like wisdom.

What stays with you isn’t the failure. I can laugh about the risks that didn’t work out; they taught me something and became part of who I am. What stays are the blank spaces, the paths I never walked down to see where they led.

Today I wonder how life might have been different if I had said yes when I said no, if I had trusted that I could handle whatever happened. That’s the heart of regret — not making a wrong choice, but never making the choice at all.

So now I at least consider the risks  life throws in my path. Not recklessly, but making the quiet decision that sometimes curiosity matters more than comfort. Better to bear the mark of trying than the silence of holding back. After all, taking a risk might be better than feeling regret. Trust in yourself and know God is guiding you along your path.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
