During the past few years, millions of illegal aliens came to our country supposedly searching for a better life. That is the story we are told to justify it, that they are just hardworking people looking for opportunity and a chance to build something better for their families. And while that may be true for some of them individually, it completely ignores what their decision costs everyday Americans who already lives here and built this country.
In the process, they have driven down wages and taken jobs that used to support American families. When employers can hire illegal labor off the books for cash and pay far less than fair wages, there is no incentive to hire citizens or pay a decent wage. Working-class Americans are forced to compete against people who will work for almost nothing, and entire trades that once provided a middle-class living now barely pay enough to survive on.
The burden does not stop at the job market. Our schools are overcrowded, our hospitals are overwhelmed, and our housing is more scarce and expensive than ever. Taxpayers are forced to foot the bill for services, benefits, and infrastructure for people who broke the law to get here and pay little or nothing into the system.
Communities that were once stable and affordable are now stretched thin, with resources diverted away from the citizens who paid for them in the first place.
Ultimately, they came here to improve their own lives, but they have made everyone else’s life much worse. Neighborhoods feel less safe, public services are stretched to the breaking point, and law-abiding citizens are treated as second-class in their own country while illegals are given endless excuses and special treatment. It is not compassion to sacrifice the well-being of your own people for those who have no right to be here.
