In the morning, when there are no noisy interruptions, there is a rare kind of quiet. The house is still, the phone hasn’t started ringing, and the day hasn’t yet made its demands on us. In that stillness we have a chance to prepare, not just by making a list or drinking our coffee, but by settling our mind and heart before anything else gets in.

That quiet is the perfect time to ask the Spirit to enter our space. Not in a loud or complicated way, but with a simple invitation. We can open the door of that early morning time, whatever it looks like for us, and ask for His presence to fill it. It’s an acknowledgment that we don’t want to face the day on our own strength alone.

The peace we ask for is not about making everything easy. The day will still bring its frustrations, its waiting rooms, its difficult conversations, and its unexpected changes. The peace the Spirit brings is steadier than that. It’s the calm that lets us breathe through those moments, that keeps us from being carried away by worry or irritation, and reminds us that we are held even when things feel unsteady.

With that peace settled, we can stay focused. We can carry one clear intention into the day instead of scattering ourselves in ten directions. Focused on kindness, focused on patience, focused on doing the next right thing in front of us. When we start in quiet and start with Spirit, we don’t just get through the day, we move through it with purpose.
