Life can be hard sometimes but that’s the way of the world. Times have to get difficult before they get better, and that difficulty is not a sign that you have failed. It is often a sign that something is being worked out in you that could not happen any other way.
Grapes are crushed before they create wine. What starts as something small and ordinary has to be broken open to release what is inside. The crushing is not the end of the grape’s story, it is the beginning of its transformation into something richer, deeper, and meant to be shared.
Olives are pressed to make oil. The press is heavy and slow, and it asks everything from the fruit. Yet without that pressing there would be no oil to heal, to light a lamp, to nourish. Some of the most useful things we carry into the next season of life come only after we have been pressed.
Seeds grow true in darkness. Long before you see any green above the soil, the seed is doing its most important work where no one is watching, sending roots down in quiet, damp earth. The darkness is not wasted time, it is where strength is built, where what will last is formed.
Diamonds are formed under intense pressure. They do not appear quickly, and they do not appear without weight and heat and time. In the same way, the pressures you have endured have not diminished you, they have clarified you, hardened what matters, and brought out a steadiness and brilliance that easy days never could.
So if you find yourself in one of those seasons now — feeling crushed, pressed, hidden, or under weight — hold on to what those moments are actually doing. They are not burying you, they are building you, turning what is simple into something with depth, purpose, and light to offer others. What feels hard today is often forming the wine, the oil, the roots, and the clarity you will carry tomorrow.
